The history

OF AN AUTHENTIC WINE PRESS FROM THE 18TH CENTURY

Just 30 km from Malaga airport and after a 2 km private path that goes through a beautiful untouched Mediterranean forest…

…you will be blown away by the solitude and history of Lagar los Pilones.

This is a privately owned farm of 200 hectares situated on the edge of the nature reserve of Mountains of Malaga.

From the top of the hill where the house is, you will enjoy 360º unforgettable panoramic views and beautiful sunsets every evening.

In Lagar los Pilones everything talks about the wines produced here with moscatel and Pedro Ximenez grapes since 300 years ago.

The housing

A COMFORTABLE HOME WITH BEAUTIFUL OLD CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES

Lagar los Pilones is a country house where you can appreciate three centuries of history, but also enjoy the comforts of nowadays.

Ensuite bathrooms in the rooms, central heating, swimming pool, barbecue, porch with garden furniture and quality towels and bed linen will do you get away without giving up the comfort of your home.

It is a magical and ideal place for quiet and relaxing holidays and family celebrations.

The surrounding

IS NATURAL AND PEACEFUL

Lagar los Pilones is the ideal combination of calm, roominess and country life, but not far from the city.

There are 360 amazing degree views of the surrounding valleys, mountains and countryside and lots of different outdoors areas and terraces, so everyone can have their own space.

But despite such apparent calm, it is not far from supermarkets, petrol station and restaurants that you can reach in 10-15 minutes by car ride.

Or just 30 minutes from Malaga to enjoy the city and the beach.

Experiences

FOR AN UNFORGETABLE TRIP

Don’t rule anything out. This place has endless possibilities and offers several options for everyone.

It has a perfect location to get to know Andalusia and the main cities, but also to go to the beach, visit one of the many wineries in the area that offer guided tours or even to celebrate a special event such as a wedding.

About us

A SHARED LEGACY

This is Carmen, host of Lagar los Pilones.

My family has lived on these lands for generations, stomping the grapes and taking them to the cellar for fermentation.

When I received this precious legacy from my father, I just thought that it was my duty to recover and preserve this house as part of our historical and architectural heritage.

Then, why not share this treasure with groups of families and friends who wish to enjoy this fantastic place?

The house was amazing, in such a beautiful setting. Carmen was a fantastic host and really went out of her way to provide loads of information ahead of our stay and to then be on hand during our trip. Can't wait to return.

We stayed at Lagar Los Pilones for a week in July with 10 family members (2 kids and 1 baby included) and had the BEST time. It was a magical vacation where we had plenty of space and privacy in the heart of southern Spain. Easy access to Malaga, Granada, Costa del Sol. We went scuba diving, saw the Alhambra and a flamenco show, enjoyed great shopping in Malaga and wish we had 1-2 more weeks to do everything on our wish list. Above all, Carmen was the BEST host. Gave great recommendations, even lined up a professional photographer so we could do a family photo shoot in the beautiful grounds. If we were to come again, we might choose spring or fall so it’s not as hot. But the pool water stayed cool the whole week and we lounged in the water to cool off often. We also had Paqui the chef to bring 2 private meals to the house and that was a treat. You must speak Spanish or use an online translator to coordinate dishes and times- but she was very affordable, made amazing food, and service.

Very nice private place with 360 picturesque view. The house is described well by the fotos. Old wine making facility convertet to house with a lot of historical charming features. The 2 km private mountain road that leads house has sections that are very steep and narrow with no barrier so the drive is not for unexperiences drivers or persons with fear of heights. The drive is however much better the second time you drive it, so just take your time. Good idéa to do grocery shopping before you drive to the house.

The views from this place are just breathtaking. It's a 10-minute drive up a dirt road from the main street, which at first seems daunting, but you get used to it. We were three families with 6 adults and 6 children. The kids (ages 8 and up) all stayed in one side of the house and the adults in the other, which was very nice for the adults. Two of the kids' beds though were in the living room, so they usually woke up as soon as others in the house woke up. You need a car, but it is conveniently located to reach some interesting places. Besides Malaga we went to Narje, Ronda and Granada. Because it's up in the hills, it's cooler there than other places, which was a welcome respite from the August heat. Carmen is super responsive and helpful.
